Description: Understanding Great Salt Lake as the heart of a system unified by forests, desert and wetlands, and by the watershed that serves them.

Purpose:

  • Classify major habitat types in Utah
  • Create a bridge between hydrological systems and habitats
  • Introduce the Greater Great Salt Lake Ecosystem
  • Introduce idea mapping as a means by which to classify living things
  • Provide further experience working in cooperative groups and serving in cooperative group roles
  • Identify important plants & animals of Utah forests, deserts, wetlands
  • Identify relationships between plants & animals, their habitats and the Greater Great Salt Lake Ecosystem
  • Provide a springboard from which additional studies pertaining to Utah forests, deserts and wetlands can be launched
